The effects of permethrin, a type of pyrethroid, on induced cellular depolarization in HepG2 cells dependent on Nav1.7

  • Presented based on student research performed at Salve Regina University

  • Introduced the effects of insecticides on sodium channels found in human liver carcinoma cells 

  • Used CRISPR/Cas9 to create a plasmid knockout of the Nav1.7 gene and transfected the plasmid into HepG2 liver cells

  • Presented research completed during a Biotechniques course taken in the Fall of 2017

  • Created a E. Coli construct without the Cav 1.2 gene

  • Knockout of the Cav 1.2 gene was replaced with target gDNA into a PX458 vector in an E. Coli cell

Case Based Research emphasizing the clinical care interventions for post concussion syndrome, dysautonomia and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.
